Semi Grousers - Track Loaders

   Guys:  Has anyone attempted to come up with an Allis Chalmers Interchange for the grouser plates.  

What I am wondering is -  Can a guy use say the 13" semi grousers on an HD6-g on a H-3 Shovel machine (i.e. 1066 loader) that has 14" semi grousers.   I am thinking that the bolt hole arrangement would be the same - only thing being that you would have 1" less surface area on each plate.

	Believe each track chain is different in pitch, space, and also width. Not many interchange . looked at on site and said IH/ TD6 track pitch was similar to HD5/6 track but said nothing on spacing of pads.

	bolt hole arrangements varry with the size of the machine. you would have to check two shoes to see if they have the same pattern. THe width from 13 to 14 inch would be fine. I worked in the construction division on the dozers 25 years ago. A machine like a 21C dozer could be fitted with 22-24-26-28-30-32 inch shoes. When your int he rocks you want narrow shoes with lots of concentrated ground pressure and you dont want them to bend or try to flex as they go over rocks... In marsh or swamp ground you may want 30 or 32 inch shoes to spread out the load and lower the pressure per square inch of surface on the ground. Some shoe options were called LGP for low ground pressure.. All of the shoes for a 21C had the same bolt patter and same chain.. However a smaller HD 16 would not necessarily have the same chain as a 21C.

	Guys: I took a 14" semi grouser off my H-3, and will go to try to match up with the 13" on the HD6-g tomorrow. Just wondering if on the smaller machines if anyone has taken the interchange approach rather than get hooked by the high cost of new. Seems like given the track lengths which are very close that they would match. I will post a reply after I check.

	The patern bolt on h3 is 3.375" by 3.625" and the hd6 is 4" by 4.250"

	From all that I have read the H3, HD3, H4, HD4 and 650 series use the same track chain whether its with the 10", 12" or 14" pads. I would think that the HD5,6,7 would have a beefier chain being larger machines.
