Our 14 year old Samsung quit making ice. Had repairman out
Said it would cost $500 for a new part. We're going to use ice trays for a while. Asked him what brand he recommended and he said just buy the cheapest one with the features you like. He said none are made to last anymore. Did recommend speed queen washer if you can afford it.

Basically the same thing my appliance repair friend told me about washing machines, buy the least expensive one and when it quits throw it away and get another one. Praise the LORD my appliances have lasted over twenty years but my daughter has to replace a washing machine soon.
Just an old country boy saved by the grace of God.

If you have a place to put it I recommend one of the stand alone little ice makers. With new vineyards drilling deeper and deeper our water quality has changed faster than we can keep up with filters that take all the minerals out. Just glad to have water to flush with. So we drink bottled water. Did not want ice made with facet water. So the stand alone ice maker came to our kitchen. Works very well. My only complaint is it is nosier than the ice maker in the fridge.

This little unit is 18 x 24 inches just over 24 inches high. Makes ice cubes fast. It is 3 years old and was a cheaper one. I think under $100 but not sure on that.

Keep that old fridge going until something else quits on it.
