i have a 1966 D15 series 2 and i was wondering what decals would be the correct one's?
There are 2 options one with chrome and the other without... also who has the best decals?

I have to disagree. Chrome was not used in 1966. This is my original 1966 before I restored it - still had the original air filter dated Mar. 66 when I bought it. The 63 diesel (below) I bought a few months ago has the chrome decals - they were consistent with D19 production - they only used chrome decals. Neighbor's 1965 D17 IV didn't have chrome decals either. ![]() ![]() |

I would have to say that all series 3 D-17's were chrome and probably the 1963 D-15's were too. Also could be the early 64 models D-15's were chrome. I have never seen a series 4 D-17 that was chrome and they were out late summer/early fall of 1964. The parts books will never tell you when the change was made. They just used up all the chrome ones first and then transitioned to the less costly (cheaper) non-chrome decals.
