Still like model 700 Remington or a 70 Winchester. Have a AR and it does do well as a varmint rifle, would not ever trade my M77 Ruger .243, SWEET Weapon!!

JW, I've just recently purchased a Rem Model 783. It is in .243 and is a tack driver. Adjustable trigger too!! It is a son/daughter of the 780. Mine came with a synthetic stock but I too like the wood ones. But that was a few more $$$. Take a look and see what you can find. I got mine from: https://www.sportsmansoutdoorsuperstore.com/ for less than $400. I love it and I'm going to paint the stock next summer to a camo.

I was going to suggest an AR 15,but many people despise the Black Rifle! An AR 15 is what I use for Coyotes and Woodchucks. Killed a Coyote this summer in the hayfield hunting mice at 250 yards. Winchester Varmint X 55 grain. 1 shot 2 steps. I have shot at least 5 Woodchucks and trapped at least a dozen.

remington quality control took a major dive over a decade ago. I would seriously look into tikka or cz for excellent bolt actions. if you really want to get serious about coyote hunting, consider an ar in .300 blackout with a supressor.

I would take a look at the Winchester XPR a lower cost rifle than the Model 70 and a friend has one in 350 Legend that shoots accurately. I don't believe they chamber it in 22/250 but they do chamber it in .243 which in my opinion is a more versatile cartridge.

I have my dad's Mossberg 151M-b semi auto .22 rifle. Nice gun to shoot. Great for administering lead sedatives to armadillos and various other small varmints.

never had a mosberg rifle but i sure like the shotguns dad has a mossberg 22 he sure likes it

I really like the looks of the featherweight, and met the guy who designed it. He owned a local gun shop here, was a Smith & Wesson dealer, (that cost me a few bucks), and got the job with Winchester, closed shop and moved. I do prefer the safety placement of the Remington over the Winchester. I thought it was Winchester that had accuracy issues back in the 90's, but even at that, they've had time to work that out you'd think.

Before I bought a Remington 700 new,I would look at a Winchester Model 70 especially if you like wood stocks. They do shoot good and come in most calibers.

Quality of the Remington should be better but the Mossbergs have improved, however I have never owned a Mossberg. A Remington 700 in 7mm-08 with synthetic stock is one of my favored deer rifles especially for open fields. Get a good quality scope and something you don’t mind getting scratched up a bit.

Are you talking new or used? Remington has had quality issues for years before and after their bankruptcy.Some Mossbergs shoot well and some don't. Savage has me still angry about their customer service. I bought a CVA Cascade several years ago in 450 Bushmaster for deer hunting in Southern Michigan and it shoots! 3 hole group at 100 yards with all holes touching. I don't know if CVA makes one in 22/250,but I believe they make one in .243 and that is low recoil and with the right bullet can shoot extremely flat. This is my opinions.

Years ago at a gun show, my brother bought a Ruger drop block, and I bought a interarms mark X. (Chech Mauser) He put the most expensive scope, I got a $125 cheapie. I got a GH at 440 yards, his Ruger sits, polished in his safe...

Got a coyote problem, looking for a 22-250 rifle to replace one I had years ago. My rifle of preference is a walnut stock Remington 700 but the price, compared to a Mossberg Patriot, makes me rethink my preference. Normally, my idea of a cheaper rifle is, it kills on one end and wounds on the other, but a 22-250 has no recoil. Does anyone have any experience with the Mossberg's and especially in the 22-250? Just not in the mood to spend an extra 5-600 bucks just to say I own a Remington.
