call the dealer with the vin and they can tell you what engine trim package axle sizes  a parts store can do it or a shop that subscribes to repair data

Sounds like you got the V6 turbo. Hand grenade with the pin out!!!! Run fast. They all blow up. Ford will not help you in any way.

They must be better in the explorer. We have a 2014 explorer sport with the 365 h.p. twin turbo and its been the best motor I've had. 200,000 miles and going strong.

YEP.... the V6 TURBO FORD engines are GREAT.... EVERY manufacture has "some" problems ..... the series of V6 Fords have no more problems than anyone else.

They make a 2.7L with dual turbos, a 3.5 with dual turbos, a 3.5 without the turbo, a 5.0 V8 no turbo........... thats about it for the F150 line........... Hard to believe you can take a 3.5L (215 cubic inches) and get 20 MPG while your cruzein... and 400 HP when you STOMP it !

My 2013 3.5L is 10 years old.......... its not like this is a New IDEA !

From a Ford mechanic friend of mine there are two common causes of problems he had seen in the last 10 years.  1 of them revolves around people going to long on oil change intervals.  The other problem he said is they need to be worked, he said every now and then drive it like you stole it or hook a load to it and work it.  The other advice is idle it down like you would a diesel engine with a turbo... once you turn it off the turbos are no longer being oiled or cooled.

I've had a '14 3.5 Ecoboost on it and regularly haul in the 7-10,000 lbs range gooseneck or bumper pull and the truck engine is awesome.  I've had it 6 years and put 110,000 miles on it (20,000 when I got it) and I have had no complaints.

Good quality and proper viscosity oil that is changed often. Minimize short trips, as driving 10 miles and shutting it off and then 10 miles home and shutting it off wears on the timing chains faster than driving 50 miles each way.

Brother has said since day one do NOT get any ecoboost engine demand the V8. While he is a Chevy guy, he gets PAID to test drive all sorts of cars and trucks. Has for years, you name it ,he's tested and written about it. Was given the Ford Hybrid car went to Florida and back with it,on Ford's dime. Didn't love it. Brought the MustangE here, POS..4 doors ? WTH. He also said never buy ANY EV as the REAL costs are $$$$$.

Jay... if you look for a 3 year old with 30K miles.. you can get a Reg Cab short bed for $25-30K .......... not cheap, but about half of "NEW"..  Still probably has a lot of "electrical gizzmos" on the inside / dash.
