My aux. valves are kicking out at 300-500 pounds on the gauge. the 3 point and all other hydraulics are working normal. Could the o-rings in the hydraulic system relief valve be bad causing this?

The detents are adjustable, look in operators manual on how to do.

With the engine throttled up to at least 1700 RPM, and you have a gauge plugged into a remote outlet, activate the lever that will make the gauge move, and hold that lever fully into raise or lower, you should have 2,000 to 2,200 psi on the gauge. You say you only have 300 to 500 psi ?? A new or rebuilt relief valve is the first step to repair it. You also say the 3-point hitch works fine?? Well, you don't have anything heavy hanging on it. It takes nothing to raise an empty hitch. 500 psi won't lift much of anything on the 3-point which uses the SAME relief valve.

Doc, The 3 point will pick a 1200# bale but, the aux. won't pick much on the front loader.
KJCHRIS. I've tried to adjust the detent but, it doesn't change much all the way screwed down.

I'll try them but, it happened on both spools at the same time. All was working fine then, I used the batwing mower for a few days and I was trying to fold up the batwings and this started. I did toy with the idea of the couplers but, just found it odd to happen on both spools at the same time. Does act like couplers since both detents kick out. If I ease in the the control handles real slow they hold in longer.

Easing in on the spools and then weakness is always the relief valve.

Doc, Is the relief valve on the 170 the same as a 180? My 170 works fine and outwardly they look the same. For a test before ordering parts I am thinking of pulling the one off the 170 and put it on the 180. If that corrects it I'll order parts for the 180.

Same exact relief valve cartridge assembly. Located on the left front corner of the hydraulic valve stack.

Thank you Doc, That fixed it. 2300# on the pressure gauge and the 500 loader picks the front tires off the ground again. Now to tell on myself, first I rebuilt the "Traction Booster" relief valve and while I was doing it I kept thinking of your last post saying the relief valve was on the left front of the spool assembly. I looked in the cab and there it was. Pulled it apart replaced the O-Ring on the piston, reassembled and it works perfect. We are so fortunate to have you as a mentor! Flawless diagnostic work from afar.
