I have a d15 with 14.9x26 tires on it. I'm just planning ahead for when I need new tires been surfing the web for good used tires. All I can come up with are 16.9x26. will these work? I know some about tires but get lost. I know that 26in rim think the 14.9 or 16.9 I thought is tire width. But also read the 16.9 is also a taller tire. Just trying to sift through all stuff online to make sure I get what I need. Thanks

Your tractor was never offered with a 16.9 x 26 tire. You can sure install them, but know that your rims are technically too narrow and your drawbar/PTO will be higher.

Karl, you are right that the numbers 14.9 and 16.9 are the tire WIDTH... Also the tire HEIGHT from the bead to the outside of the tread is determined by the SERIES of tire.. On a truck this can be 55, 60, 70, 75 %... etc...... I think tractor tires are about 85% . meaing when you go from a 14.9 to 16.9 width tire, ( that is 2 inches) , you get about 85% of that ( or 1.6 inches on each side or 3- 3.2 inchs DIAMETER ) TALLER tire...... so YES, the WIDTH does effect the HEIGHT.
