The rear tires on my M2 desperately need replaced.  It has worn out 4 rib 11.00x16 tires on it.  
I am thinking I want to go to bar tires, reversed. 

I am having trouble sorting through the options.  In the parts book there are 2 different spindles listed for the different tire combinations.  What could the difference be?  Why is there a different spindle listed for the 11.00x16 and another for the 24" tires?

Lastly do you have bar tires on your machine?  Do you like them? and What size do you have?

Not knowing your situation, my M 2 had just floatation tires like a wagon, went 35 years and never replaced them.
1945 C, 1949 WF and WD, 1981 185, 1982 8030, unknown D14(nonrunner)

We have 24" tractor type tires on 2 different 2 wheel drive combines, and have flotation type on one 2wd, and of course traction type on our RWA machines (all M and L series) havent noticed a difference in spindles or wear or steering really. I know the bar tires will dig a little more in soft dirt and will bounce just a little on the gravel or hard ground, but I dont know of any real difference otherwise.

Joe, look at 11:00x16 3 rib tires such as Firestone's. They steer far better in slick conditions than 4 ribs. Put them on several weeks, maybe a month, before you start using the combine. Let them get hardened up so the stalks won't chew them up. After looking at my old tire suppliers websites and seeing rear tires jumped $300.00 each in the past couple of months, I'd be finding something soon. They may not be any when you need them.
