Help! I've tried everything to cure my WD from sh

   Mowing pasture with brush hog, she suddenly sputtered, bucked and shut down.  Started right up again and sounded good.  Continued mowing and same thing happened after about two minutes.  Believing it's a fuel issue, this is what I've done:  Removed carb, cleaned all jets/passages, blown compressed air to same;  removed fuel line from tank to carb and blew it out; checked gas in tank and valve outlet, clean as a whistle, no rust or sediment in tank. Fuel flows freely. Cleaned sediment bowl and screen.  removed carb inlet and blew it out.  Checked needle and seat and floats.  No sticking at all.  Floats are level with top half of carb at full seat.  I have pulled this carb three times to double check my work and insure gas is flowing freely.  Each install, starts right up, purrs, and after about two minutes starts sputtering and stalls.  What is curious is when it starts to sputter and cough, full choke smooths it out and it purrs.  Now it's running on full choke with is bad!  I think it's in the float, needle/seat where it runs out of gas, but I have tried everything to eliminate this cause.  I checked the floats for leaks dunking them in water.  No issue.  Having no luck with the fuel, I replaced the plugs, points and condenser.  That didn't work.  I should mention that this is a re-built carb from Yesterday's  Tractor and is three years old.  Sorry for the long post but I am at a loss.  Help!!

	Hook up a small container with rubber hose. Set it up on your hood and see if it runs on that.

	A 3 year old carb from YT? You wore it out! Seriously, though, check the choke shaft seals, and spray some carb cleaner around the carb and manifold, while running, you may have other vacuum leaks, that appear when things get warm. If it runs better, when the carb cleaner is sprayed in and around carb, carb gasket, and intake manifold, then you are on the way to finding the problem.

	Filter screen in the sediment bowl if has one is choked and starving for gas.

	Almost sounds like the needle is sticking in the Carb. Had a customer with the same issue. I told him to take the needle out, take some super fine steel wool and polish the needle barrel and reassemble. Problem for him solved. Might be worth a check... Steve@B&B

	I have taken some metal polish on a Q-tip, put it in a drill and polished the needle valve seat. (Same as needle barrel?) Then spray some carb cleaner in the seat. Good luck and let us know how you come out.
	Everything is impossible until someone does it! WD45-trip loader 1947 c w/woods belly mower, 1939 B, #3 sickle mower 1944 B, 2 1948 G's. Misc other equipment that my wife calls JUNK!

	sure sounds like your running out of gas, or leaking in too much air ( manifold / gasket / choke shaft).... all good ideas above. Two minutes is about how long it takes to empty the gas bowl on the carb.. So the REFILL / gas inlet valve, is a good place to look. Edited by steve(ill) - 26 Jun 2021 at 9:02pm

	Problem solved! Thanks to Ed and Steve for the tips. By-passed the tank like Ed suggested. Ran great for 10 minutes. Knew then it was blockage in the tank. Fashioned a clean out brush I use for carbs and such, and pulled out a Lady Bug from inside the tank. It was a slow trickle before, and now is a steady stream. The slow trickle wasn't enough to re-supply the carb fuel bowl. I think I'll have drink, Jack Daniels is on tap. Thanks for all the tips guys!

	i mitigate this on a B that I had, I took out the sediment bowl and drilled the inlet (at the top) for a 1" copper stand pipe. inserted that and good to go. The reason I drilled it, is that the copper pipe was just slightly larger OD than the hole I was trying to stick it into. The stand pipe keeps the (non floating) trash at the bottom of the tank from entering the rest of the fuel system.

	I use a plastic fitting originally made to protect hydraulic hose ends which happens to fit the end of the fuel nozzle on the tank hose!!! Also ask your fuel delivery driver if they have a plastic cover for the nozzle, here in the Midwest they give for free if you ask(FS)!!!
