Topic: D15 Rear rim questionPosted: 13 Mar 2021 at 5:41pm |

Hey folks, been a while -
I'm looking at a D15 series II that appears to be in good shape, but the rear rims and tires are rotten. Will 28" rims and centers from a WD work on a D15? Thanks -

A 'stock' D15 probably(?) has 26" rims, same as a D-14. If so , combine rims will fit. bolt pattern is 8 x 8"bolt circle.

You're correct, the D15 has 26" spin out rims that are rotten beyond repair. My question is whether or not 28" centers and rims will fit - they are 8 lugs on an 8" circle, with a 6" center hole. I can get a set of WD rims & tires that are in decent shape for a reasonable price, just trying to make sure they will work before I buy a bunch of stuff that won't work.

They'll fit but maybe(?) won't clear the fenders depending on the width ? I've got 14.9x26 on one of my D14s ,and they're much taller then the original 12-26(13.2-16) tires. I'm sure someone must have put 28s on before....I got lucky ,got some good rubber on combine rims 15 years ago after a ,sniff,sniff...combine demo derby...

If your rims are only rotten around the valve stems and the other 95% is good, you can get them patched up. That's what I usually do.

Yes, My D15 I, has had 13.6x28" on it for 30+ years. They came off donor WD45. Be warned, it really increases speed over the stock tire size, whatever that was.

In my opinion Allis should have kept the 28" wheels from the WD when they came out with the D-14 & 15 , they already had the wheels , why go and change the size 2 inches smaller and harder to find.

28's will obviously fit, as the pictures show. Only downside is you might not be able to spin them all the way in. The tallest tires I've ever had on a WD or 45 were 26's. 15X26 or 18.4X26 in modern terms. yes, they are taller than my 16'9X28's! Still have them sitting in the shed, good rubber but fixed rims. If you could bolt some weights to them I'd put them on something. |

Well, we have a new-to-us D15. It currently has 28" centers and rims on it. The rims are more than just rust out at the valve stem, there is an 18" section of each rim that is just gone. It must have set in a puddle of calcium chloride for years.
Engine runs well, power director and hydraulics seem to work well. The PTO seal is gone, and the hydraulic and transmission oil levels are very low. This will be fun to work on - we don't plant to do a full strip and paint restore, just put it back like its supposed to be and enjoy it. Edited by NCAllisnut - 15 Mar 2021 at 12:15pm |
