I am working on one of my WF's which needs a shifter boot. How do you get a new shifter boot over the reverse lock out mechanism ?

I removed those things from the lever when I put a new boot on my RC. then put everything back together after the boot was in place.
If it was fun to pull in LOW gear, I could have a John Deere.
Real pullers don't have speed limits.
If you can't make it GO... make it SHINY

This may not sound very professional but for my '36 WC I cut mine then glued it back together. Used Loctite super glue for the adhesive; it dries very quickly and is strong. Make a clean  cut with a very sharp knife and glue a little at a time being very careful to get the two sides aligned. You will have to hold it  in place for 30-45 seconds. Take your time and I  don't  think anyone would notice what you did. I would have ruined the original shifter knob  getting it off and probably other damage  getting the linkage removed. Good luck.

Paul, I tried getting the pin out of the "swivel" on the bottom of the reverse lock out. Is it a rivet ? I heated it all I dared, but couldn't get it to budge. I was afraid to screw everything up, so I decided to ask what other people were doing. 
If this pandemic ever gets under control, I still plan on stopping in to see you !

ac hunter, I was thinking about doing exactly what you are talking about. I was hoping someone would say they had tried it. 
I did get the knob off. It was in pretty rough shape, so I wasn't too concerned about damaging it, but it came off in pretty good shape.

If I remember right (that was about 30 years ago) That pivot plate is just on with a rivet. Mine was somewhat loose and needed a new rivet anyway. 

  Hopefully now that there is a vaccine that is getting out to people, y'all will be able to have your show in June. As for me I'm only writing my plans in pencil for now. I'd like to be able to bring a trailerload of NOS parts to the swap meet there.

I replaced the boot on my WF a while ago. I was able to remove the knob and by squeezing the reverse interlock tight to the shaft, managed to stretch the boot enough to get it over and work it down until it was in place. Had to stretch it quite a bit, but I got it into place without taking anything apart or without damaging the boot. A little bit of liquid dish soap might help if necessary.
I'm a man...and I can change...if I have to... I guess.

I did the same thing on my WC, time, patience and perseverance.  Boot fits tight now.
Maximum use of available resources!
