   Happy New Year fellow Allis enthusiasts,
Here is the Answer to this question:  I need a new clutch.  

Here is the question:  My clutch pedal is engaging at the top of the stroke.  I want to adjust the clutch, so I take off the access plate to try and move the adjustment bolt (it is the easy adjust style where you push in the bolt, and then turn).  I cannot turn the nut.  So either the mechanism is gummed up with clutch dust, or I am out of adjustment.  
The clutch chatters a bit every now and then, and slips occasionally.  Before I get it torn apart, and replace the clutch, I would like to know the following:

If I open the other access plate, and see the rest of the clutch, can I determine how much clutch is there.  For example,  If I had a brand new clutch  in there, would I be able to see the thickness of the pads?  When I search the web for pictures of a clutch, I can't find any picture that answers this.  

Anyone able to add some insight to this?

	Large Diesel Clutches have to be Pedal Applied to turn the adjusting ring, is the pedal blocked in the Down Position?

	DMiller, We had the clutch pedal pushed down when turning the adjusting ring. It would not spin. All I was doing was turning the entire pressure plate assembly.

	Will have to pull clutch. Nothing else will work.

	Don't get the easy adjust as a replacement. The old type is tried and proven to work. Same goes for the Auto-Adjust ones. They will not work for the life of the clutch. I have seen some that unbolt the easy adjust and go inside and pry them into adjustment.
	If it was fun to pull in LOW gear, I could have a John Deere. Real pullers don't have speed limits. If you can't make it GO... make it SHINY

	Make sure it’s pushed in all the way, make sure the clutch pedal is pushed down all the way, and try to turn it counter clockwise and then clockwise to see if it will break loose.
