Hello again all!
I have an AC 5020 4wd with a FEL. We were thinking about switching to round bales for the horses but I wanted to be sure my little tractor could lift them. Does anyone know what the lift capacity of the three point is? Or better yet, has anyone had any real world expierence moving round bales with them?
I’ve moved some pretty big logs around and I know how easy it is to get the tires off the ground. I know round bales vary is weight quite a bit but I’d be sticking to the smaller ones. Tires are currently not loaded.

You don't want to lift them with loader or your be having Front drive axle problems. and it won't handle a very big bale.

I have an old MF 205 import, its prolly a little lighter, and it picked up Hesston 530 bales(39" wide by 52" dia. bales), alright, steered like it had power steering, till I added some front weights...

There are round bales and then there is round bales. I have had round bales here that I pushed and rolled with my 5020. Then I had big round bales delivered that all I could do is roll them. I never had a spear for the 3 point. I have a heavy 3 point disk that it will lift easy along with the front.

I looked in my owners manual and can't find anything on lift capacity.

My MF 220,about the same as an AC 5030 will lift more than the front end will hold down. Can't see using it to move large round bales.

My 5020 FEL lifted dry round bales one winter but not very well. I just pushed them most of the time plus I had to rebuild a cylinder that spring.

Thanks for the information. My neighbors all have cattle and massive round bales that I’m not even going to try to lift. I think if I can find some 4x4 ones I’ll be able to move them around well enough. Once I give it a shot I’ll be sure to follow up in case anyone else is looking for this information someday.

Talk to your hay supplier, most round Balers can make smaller diameter bales. I make mine (4x4) undersized for some horse customers with smaller tractors. Many people seem to not feel safe with 4x5’s or bigger. Just keep in mind that your hay supplier has more work involved with smaller bales just a little less hay.

with the scarce parts availability, I would not lift anything of significant weight with one of those. Sell it and buy something newer and bigger. You probably won't be able to steer it anyway lol!
