Topic: Allis 7060 670i rebuild help- pistonPosted: 05 Nov 2019 at 2:05pm |

I have a black belly Allis 7060 with a 670i engine. I pulled a damaged piston (from shattered exhaust valve) and found the number AP 307 cast into the inside. Does anyone know the manufacture of this piston. The tractor engine was rebuilt before my father purchased this by a John Deere mechanic so who knows what parts were used? The piston ring location does not match the position of the after market pistons that I have seen? Or the location of a piston from 7080 670Hi engine. I need to get a replacement piston that needs to be the same one as this damaged one. Any thoughts? Edited by twinsonfarm - 05 Nov 2019 at 2:18pm |

M&W pistons had a wide top ring that looked like a piece of angle iron.

If valves don't have a AC part # on them, I would replace them. Have saw after market valves fail before. MACK

That makes sense as the broken exhaust valve had no markings....

That is an M&W power seal piston. They use a high top ring land that is designed like the Dr. said. It improves the compression ratio slightly and makes for better cold weather starting. I'm not sure that they are available any more??

Is it ok to put a reliance piston and sleeve into the No. 2 cylinder and leave the others that are not damaged alone?

Allis trained mechanic put a Reliance kit in my 8050 it made it 3 hours before it was apart again. While it’s apart buy a complete quality kit and do it right. |

Victory is right, why take a knife to a gun fight so to speak. It's a no win situation with only one off brand piston. Good luck either way.

If it was mine I would at least take out the other pistons and inspect them. You have a lot of scoring and scuffing on the piston you have out and I don't think that is all from a dropped valve. You may have other pistons in there with scuffing just like the one you have out.
