The fields recovered pretty quick from the summer drought. Enough for us to have fun with and have enough for the cows and side money.

I had a 273 like yours— nice little Baler that never skipped a beat, wish I kept it! I was out making hay today and had to get off the tractor 4 times to adjust the knotters. Nice pictures!!

Dad sold a JD baler he had and bought the 273. The knotters were terrible on the JD and finally one day he had enough. That was in the late 70’s and as you can see she is still going strong. Very trouble free. Keeping the equipment inside really prolongs their life. The same with the tractors. They are very well cared for and provide us trouble free farming. I’m sorry boys I missed the fun, and thanks Brett for taking my place.

Never been around that tractor so don't know about it. But in general you cannot be to careful. I used cotton as a teen running a HD 5 with a Detroit Diesel. And the real foam ear plugs as soon as I saw them.Lot of hours on open tractors but always ear plugs. And it was not enough I have a real hard time in any kind of crowd with multiple conversations going on. So you don't have to use any safety equipment you don't want. But no need to discourage others.

We were born and raised on this farm. Far from being city boys. Although the 6060 is far more quiet than my 190XT, choosing to protect hearing is just smart no matter what kind of tractor your running.

WHAT??????
![]() Shoot, who needs hearing protection? And ya don't hafta wear eye protection when welding, either! Good on ya. I didn't used to wear any hearing protection at all when I was young. Met FAR too many men not much older than me at the time that couldn't hear much of anything anymore. 40 years later and I have some tinnitus, but they all have hearing aids. Ditto for guys younger than me that never wore any. ![]() And no, I'm not a city boy. Just applying wisdom. ![]() |

I need more than 200 characters for my "signature." I'd love to see that changed to 250!
