Hey all. Thanks for having me. Just picked up a 1951 CA and working on getting it running. First experience on a magneto but I think I'm starting to understand them better. The tractor was sold as previously running and used regularly to mow but the wouldn't start one day. I managed to get it running briefly over the weekend after lots and lots of cranking on the starter. Since then, I've cleaned the carb and started tearing into the magneto. Have some new parts coming from Steve at B&B and once they arrive I'll try my hand at freshening the magneto and see if I can get it all timed. Have been looking around for a decent carb rebuild for the zenith as the throttle shaft seemed a little loose and it could probably use fresh gaskets.
Anyone have a recommendation for carb kit sources? What about spark plugs? The previous owner installed some champion variant with a heat range of 17 which I've since corrected to an NGK 6 plug for now as it was the best option I could find in stock locally.

Nice looking CA! You will find it to be an excellent mowing machine. Especially if the hand clutch works. As to carb and spark plugs call on SteveNJ. He is our resident electrical expert. He also has carb parts and could fix you up with what you need. Let us know how it goes. Good Luck! Bill Long

Good call on B&B for the carb. i'll have to give Steve a shout. The carb appears atleast functional to get it running, it was surprisingly fresh inside so makes me think the previous owner may have put a basic kit in recently but I want to get the shafts tightened up and be certain. That Zenith is quite different than the double pumper holley's I'm used to working with on muscle cars!
And it definitely appears complete aside from the headlights. New battery, 1 new rear, 2 new rear rims and the seller's dad had the starter, magneto and generator rebuilt. Also came with a straight blade for the rear, the newer woods belly mower, a harrow and a single disc plow so it should make for a fun machine to help keep my small acreage in shape.

Thanks, Bill! I'm pretty excited to get it back to work and then slowly work on a bit of a restoration. Still trying to learn all of the operations of the tractor by reading the operators manual and found a copy of the service manual online.. Seems like it's been well cared for and just needs a little tlc but for the price and being double my age I can't complain.
