Fixing Hydraulic Leaks

   Hello all,I have been slowly fixing hydraulic leaks on all my tractors.  The big leaks are repaired, now it is time to tackle the slow leaks/weeps.  
On my 8010, we have had a leak at the top of the 3Pt housing ever since it was taken back to the shop for a warranty repair for some washer in the rear end.  When it was put back together, the shop just put silicone ontop of the original gasket.  Well that worked as one would expect.  We complained for years, but the shop would not take it back.  Fast forward 20+ years, and the leak is still there.  
The leak can bee seen just above the top link plate.  There is a slow weep, and old silicon sealant. 


Can I pull the top of the 3PT housing, and put in a new gasket with minimal problems, or is there more to just lifting the top?

	8010 is easier than 70 series, but takes a lot of cleaning before removing top. Alot of dirt builds up around front and right side.

	I've never regretted having a pressure washer, and this kind of thing is an excellent reason... put on old clothes, set up someplace where the mess won't cause a problem, and put on goggles. Get in there, and blast the bejeezus out of it. You'll be wearing gak when you get done, but it'll be a whole lot closer. My bet is that the silicone-job is the primary culprit. It'd take an expert on that model to know what the 'washer' thing was all about, but if it's just leaking out the housing, it's gasket surface/seal issue. I would NOT be surprised if you find a stripped out bolt hole that's been repaired with JB Weld...
	Ten Amendments, Ten Commandments, and one Golden Rule solve most every problem. Citrus hand-cleaner with Pumice does the rest.
