I have a new too me 8030 that needs new rear tires. It currently has 18.4-38s on it now.
I have a set of 20.8-38 Firestone radials that I could take off another tractor and put on the 8030. How much of a difference in traction would there be between the 18.4 vs. 20.8s. Would there be an advantage in going to 20.8-38s?

20.38's are about all ya want if your doing 30" rows..I would rather have 18.4-42's for the 30" rows.. 20.8-38 and 18.4-42 are really close to the same height wise... go with step up rims if ya want the 42's... I think the 20.8 really need a 19 or 20"wide rim,, but they will fit on a 18"wide...
the tractor would really look better with either of the larger tires,,, 18.4-38's just look to little to me... Edited by Michael V (NM) - 14 Apr 2019 at 11:03pm |

If it's a FWA, then technically you would need to have larger tires on the front also.

The tractor does not have front assist, and will be use mostly for tillage.

We switched our 8050 from 18.4x38 to 18.4x42 with a set of power rail rims from a company ere in NE Iowa who makes the rims. We have been very happy with the set up. Running Firestone 23 deg radials with matched hub mounted duals. We run sprayer with it on 30" centers and also a 9 shank chisel plow/25 ft 2500 disc/29 ft deutz field cultivator. No issues with tractions. No Fluid. Cast Inner weights.

Oggonobrien, Great videos of your 8050. Thanks for sharing. In the first video, I loved the November evening or early morning sky with what may appear to be remanants of rain or snow shower clouds from distant areas.
In the later video, I could hear your toddler jabbering & the dog running up to greet you both. Great family moments. I think I also heard the 8050 power direct from HI to LO, turn at the ends, then from LO back to HI once chisel is lowered? Ok is it a Power Shift? And it looks like it may have 9bolt dual hubs?? Sharp AC tractor and it sounds awesome pulling along thru the field! Edited by AC7060IL - 17 Apr 2019 at 9:15am |
