The narrow front discussion got me to thinking...
Which hand do you most normally keep on the steering wheel spinner/knob on your tractor? For me, it's usually my left hand as I want my right hand to be freed up to pull the hand clutch on the CA (or the hydraulic lever). Plus, every new tractor has all your buttons/switches/throttle on the right side. I remember when my Dad drove my CA he usually used his right hand. I asked him why? He said, "just must be an old habit from running the WD-45 for so many years. You had to keep your left hand available to move the hydraulic lever on the quadrant". I guess it depends on what you get used to or grew up on.

Can't have spinner on mine, but right hand has to steer and left hand fights the lift control since it wont stay put!

I usually drive anything left handed. D17 is a bit harder since I have my loader controls between the seat and left fender. I still do the bulk of steering it left handed. AaronSEIA

If you have hydrastatic steering it won't matter because it'll change all the time.

Yeah, I'd say left most of the time, saving the right for the hand clutch.
Doing things that need the left for the hydraulics,,,,then the right. I'd say 90% left to 10% right. I think that's gonna change this year though. I snapped a muscle in my left bicep and it hurts like heck to do the simplest things now. Got a knot in it where it went 'twang'. |

I like to try and mount them near the bottom center or close to it if possible, that way I can switch hands if needed.

Don't fall asleep disking first time over with a spinner on the wheel. It will leave a knot on your head and don't ask me how I know.

Whatever makes a fella comfortable and it varies by tractor model for me.
I tend to lean on the little 15's as all around utilities so they get the spinner mounted at about 11 o'clock. Parked by pulling straight into the shop, does not interfere with coat/shirt tails getting off and situated just right for leverage to throw the wheel quickly either way when cutting on fence rows. I don't keep my hand on it during normal use, rather feel the steering wheel itself.
