Maybe the tube injects the blow by, from the worn rings, into the air cleaner?Wink

Maybe the tube is for manual egr....
 As for the crash plate, it looks like it has the sub frame of the belly mounted sickle mower.
  to me it looks hideous painted that way... but to each his own.

YEA.... at least it aint GREEN.............. never seen an EGR system on a AC from the 1940s !
