oh,0h, Houston we have a problem. New sleeves and pistons, had water in oil when i started after sitting for years. Had trouble with carb after a dozen on/offs it will now run without the choke. No smoke, usually starts on third yank of the crank.
Why is it so satisfying to have your girlfriend shake her head after you cut a double donut in the snow? i was pretty proud!
Back in the shop, pulled dipstick and oil was milky. loosened oil plug and a quarter cup of water came out. I was so sure the reason for water was head gasket and/or sleeves as the back of the engine was full of crap. Guess I should have had the head pressure checked, my bad. Had water sitting in the engine for weeks while I Painted and worked on other things without a drop of water any where. Another thing I should have done is drill an 1/8 hole in the Thermostat, as the stat is so remote from the head that it is got to be very hot before the stat gets the message to open, that and to bleed air out.
So my question is, where is it most likely leaking, it seemed like the sleeves went in pretty nice. Seems like it takes heat to make it leak as I never noticed water til now that I've had it running longer.

Did you replace the freeze plugs? If it takes heat to make it leak I would suspect the head gasket or a crack in the block.

Suspects include: cracked head/block, bad head gasket, bad frostplug(s), and/or inproperly installed/damaged Liner O-Rings. Pressurize the radiator, Bad Liner O-Rings can be checked by removing the oil pan and visually checking for leaking on the OD of the liner, Bad frost plugs can be visually checked after removing the valve cover. Once you have eliminated the O-Rings and Frostplugs you must then remove the head to check the gasket, head and block.

normally the freeze plugs in the head and the O-rings on the liners will leak "just setting there" and collect in the oil pan.... "Normally" if you have to get it hot to leak, its more in the head gasket or crack in the head.
Like them all, but love the "B"s.

I have redone a bunch of heads for this size engine and have never run across a cracked head. Steve has you pointed to the most likely cause if the head was retorqued after it was warmed up after the first start up after the first torque.
