The turbo on my 7060 needs replacing. The wear in the shaft looks like it was starved of oil. The tractor is used to pull a 6 cubic yard scraper once in a while and a round baler at haying time. Other than that it collects dust.
I realize the engine would suffer a power loss if I run it naturally aspirated, but what might some of the other issues be? Would the inter-cooler need to be removed? 'till later Dave |

If you think you're going to operate that engine without a turbo?? Leave it in the shed and throw away the keys. You will slowly destroy that engine without proper air to it. End of story. Park it if you're not gonna fix it.

Some of the sponsors of this forum have new (replacement) turbo in the ~$400 (or less) range.

A turbo is a pretty inexpensive repair on a tractor. MACK

Especially on a tractor that size! You have not priced new rear tires lately, have you? You wouldn't get half a tire for the cost of a turbo. |

I see a lot of scraper tractor turbo's that fail. They fail because the engines have been stalled too many times at full load. There's no oiling of the turbo when it is at full speed.

Contact Val or Von Leefers at Area Diesel Service in Carlinville, IL. or Des Moines, IA. They repair turbos every working day.
