Does anyone know if the series 1 D10 and D12 could be purchased with power steering?
Thanks in advance, Bob

I had one power steering unit a few years ago that came with a Series II tractor, but was not installed. The power steering runs off a pump that is mounted to the front of the engine with the tank mounted to the side of the engine, the same as the set up for Series I tractor with the live lift option.

It all should bolt up. Also I think D-14's also had the option, you could rob a PS unit off'n one of them, too...

When Bob Bollinger let me drive his D-12 in our Plow Day a few years ago I do believe his had power steering. If I recall it was a very late Series D-12. The power steering was external with an outside ram assisting the linkage. Worked fine.
I do not believe a D-14 Power Steering would fit a D-10 or D-12. When we were closing the business we sold a few D-14 Industrials and If I recall correctly the power steering was driven by a gear rack and ram through the front steering housing. They initially had trouble with them cause the connection between the ram and the gear rack was too small. When we replaced them we had to put a new gear rack, ram, and pin. Would not work on a D-10 or D-12. After writing this I looked in Pop's Price book - dated May 26, 1960 - and at that time there was not power steering listed as an option on add on. Good Luck! I was speaking of the early D-14 motor driven option. Later tractors w/ps, were similar to the D-15, but the early optional ps was similar or same as the option, on D-10/12, IIRR...

Anyone have a steering gear box for the D-10 series 3 ? Mine feels like it needs rebuilding. I would like to have one to rebuild and replace the one in my D-10, rather than tear into the one on it and find that it can't be rebuilt.

Larry,
Presumably if you have the live lift option, it cannot be used for power steering as well. Thanks, Bob

That's correct. The pump mounts in the same place as your hydraulic pump.

Bought another d-12 with the weight on,took it off and sold the tractor for 1500 more than I paid! It's the only way you will find the weight unless you steal it! Lol
