Grandpa had his WD overhauled in 1970 with M&W Gear Company pistons, and I found this amongst my tractor manuals -- they apparently sent him a booklet and two hood decals and a letter. I thought it was pretty neat and you all would enjoy.

they were overbore and higher compression...it seemed they had more effect on AC's than Farmalls.Dad put a lot of them in area tractors in the 60's & 70's.

I have two WDs and the one with the M&W pistons seems to run a bit quieter in the engine to my untrained ear. The other one sounds like a typical old Allis WD engine... But one has a Nelson muffler and one has a Stanley muffler so that may skew it a bit, too. I never tried to dyno them or anything though, and don't know if my other WD was ever upgraded or not.

Back in the late 50's Dad had a "power block" put in his 1951 JD A. Was that an M&W product? JD 2cyl did not have sleeves so the block had to be replaced. A friend told me that the blocks could be bored out as big as a power block, but I don't believe that. I had a magazine with an article telling how big the power blocks were but I can't find that article.
Anyway Dad bought me the WD to farm with, so that is how I became an Allis fan. Dad bought himself a D19 and then a 190XT later on.

We have M&W pistons and sleeves in our 1950 WD. We also put a M&W Robot header height control on our Gleaner E. They made a heck off a lot of products back in the day!! Ryan

I have a Deere 4020 and two 3020's with M&W pistons in them and they run great. I also have a M&W turbo on the one 4020. I do not think they are available anymore. Tom
