My 190 xt jumps out of 7/8 th gear under load and 5/6 coasting down hill. Play in the rear end too as well as all the issues one might expect to find on a 50 year old tractor. This is getting worse as time goes along. Will an earlier 7000 with the red frame and floor shift have the same issues? It is ten years newer!

I have heard the gear jumping problem was corrected on the 7000.

Age is not the issue. Who USED (abused) the tractor is the issue!

7000 had gears that had shifting lugs with a degree or two positive so as to prevent this . The down side was if the clutch had a drag on it,,, it was hard to get
OUT of gear... 190 gear jump was due to 1 abusive shift ing - grinding the gears, over power causing the pinion shaft to loosen up , improper engagement from the factory where as the gears never really shifted all the way in from day one. |

7000 had a transmission brake which helped except for reverse. People would pull them out of park into reverse befor gears stop turning grinding the teeth off of reverse gears. MACK
