here's one that I ran across recently (altho' I'm not a perfect speller, this jumped right off the page)
The guy was talking about a JD 317 and how it had loose steering; "The snowblower ad's about 150lb to the front axle and makes the tractor hard to steer when at a stand still or moving very slowly." It took extra effort to make the word "ad" possessive, and yet it's still not grammatically correct. I get a kick out of people using THERE, THEIR, and THEY'RE interchangeably. |

I appreciate your desire for good spelling and I feel the same way. I used to get straight A's or E's depending on where you are from. However ain't so no mo, that's why I keep a dictionary close by. But for the price he is asking, do you think it's a good idea to complain? It looks like one to grab and run. LOL Leon R Cmo

I often times go onto on line classifieds and put Allis Chalmers in the search bar so I can see all of the Allis stuff that is for sale. Unfortunately, the misspelled ones don't come up. Darrel

oh...and I've seen other colored stuff spelled wrong too! and usually if they can't spell it right in any ad, they don't really know much about that piece of machinery, and that clues me in to stay away from it!

Well, sometimes misspelled equipment names can be a sign of a good deal as the seller doesn't know what the thing is or what it's value is.

The English language is one of the hardest to learn. Just how many words do we have that are SAID the same, but have different meanings, are spelled different and used in different context. So, if you read it here, can you say you read it here, or that you hear it here? ![]() |
