Ok so I called another agco dealer today and the price was $75 higher for the 175 kit. $925.But he says he can get me another major overhaul kit for 900 that includes valves and gaskets. Agco kit doesnt come with either.I asked if its an aftermarket kit and he says its from agco but through a different vendor? Is he just trying to sell me the same kits as I can get anywhere else aftermarket? Why is this so difficult? Lol

Give Tony at Tony's Tractors a call. I know TC sells a lot of engine kits. He may be able to give you even a better price. Some of the other venders on here also sell engine parts n' kits. Call them also. AGCO is always high on engine parts as long as I've been around these things... HTH

Can't get a 4" sleeve 8.25 CR kit aftermarket that I know of. Only the AGCO kits do that. As Dr. Allis has pointed out, most aftermarket kits are 4 1/8" and 6.5 (WD45) CR. A few are marked as "hi compression" but I have yet to find one that will document the CR. Also, if the AGCO kit no longer includes the gasket set, that's a change from when I bought my 175 kit in 2013.
My guess your AGCO dealer is indeed selling aftermarket kits everyone else is selling. Try Sandy Lake Implement to see what they say about AGCO kits. Also, if you want to try another closer AGCO dealer that specializes in Allis that's much closer, try Flieg's Equipment in St. Genevieve, MO. That's where I bought my 175 kit Ask for Jerry. Mike |

You do realize that no matter who you buy the kit from the parts or at least most of the parts are made in some other country. Agco doesn't make parts, they source them out to be made in china, india, turkey, wherever. Federal mogul, perfect circle, their stuff is made in some other country.

Doug's right! It's hard to get some to actually believe that, but it's true. There's way more being made outside of this country, than in it! On many things that Agco sells, you're just paying Agco prices, not that it's Agco made at all. And...just because it's in an Agco box, don't make it Agco either. Been there and done that! I do get surprised at times though and actually get something made in the USA! Sad chit, but true. Rick

Well based on what other members told me nobody sells a 4" kit other than agco. And I have not found one. I want a agco kit for reliability and maintaining the power crater design. I know I can get a aftermarket kit for less than 900 I was just trying to figure out if this guy is selling an agco kit or the same ones I can get through any aftermarket parts shop. They couldnt tell me if the 175 kits come with gaskets skyhighbaloon I hope they do then! And not to stir the pot but dont yall think if the agco 175 kit was just generic parts that the other aftermarket kit manufactures would offer standard sleeves as well? They are all overbore. Which makes me think the 4" kits are exclusive to agco

Ill also add that to get the same comp ratio as a agco 175 kit you would have to get the aftermarket overbore with flat pistons. Since the heads are also flat that leaves a flat combustion chamber. That to me doesnt sound too efficient. And technically wouldnt be a power crater engine!

I don't think there's anything so hard about it. There are several different kits that you can get, but everyone that I know uses the 175 kit, which is the same thing I would do. I was just saying, not necessarily about the engine kits, but in general, that Agco uses a lot of aftermarket parts...fact! I have bought parts from Agco that was handed to me in the box the part came in and the box had right on it...India! So they get some parts from over the pond, for sure. Rick
