I bought some tires and other parts and the rest of the tractor came with them. It was traded at the local JD dealer. An average looking WD, havn't heard it run, it's supposed to have a bad battery but they pulled started it for someone else to look at. That person said it has a noise in the rear end and walked away. I bought it for $500. I want the wheel weights and the rear tires as well as the radiator and fenders. My WD45 needs tires and the other parts (the 45 was rolled last summer), the wheel weights are going on a D17. I've made a deal with archer45 that if he swaps the parts I'll give him the tractor and the bent parts and old tires so he will have his first tractor. Not the WD45 he wants but the price is right and at least it runs. LOL It has a distibutor It has a nice original exhaust manifold The block was cracked and repaired, but it doesn't seem to leak. It has a snap coupler hitch. The battery box is good, needs a lid but I've got one for him. The sheet metals not to bad either. If there is a noise in the transmission or rear end it probably has something to do with the missing shift boot. Seriously I think he can make it a usable tractor to mow his yard and possibly trade for a WD45 later on.

That precleaner is worth keeping if you work in any dirt.Oil cup almost never needs serviced.

That is a Donaldson pre-cleaner. I know you can still get replacement plastic bowls for them (at least you could 5 years ago). Maybe even the whole assembly.

I had a precleaner like that on my 45 before the rollover so that's another piece getting robbed. LOL Does anyone know what these weights weigh? I have several F&H weights but these are thicker than the others

Two replys, yes new pre-cleaners are available and I am using one but-- the main part (base) is made of plastic and it has already broken. My bowl is good, that is why I am looking for a medal one. The second reply; the F&H wheel weighs are the "starter" weights that go on spoke WC wheels. # 161 and # 162 make a pair for each wheel. The F&H will fit just about every brand of wheel and the # 162 are the most popular to find.

I beleive the F&H 161's weigh right around 140lbs, and the 162's are right around 150lbs

That is a good looking tractor! Rub a little boiled linseed oil on her & the paint will really shine.

It's a rare WD that doesn't have some some noise from the rear end/transmission in my experience. Mine has had the same sound for the last 12 years that I have owned it and it sees daily service. Has not got any worse!

Well we pulled it home, the trailer was tied up and it wasn't that far. The battery is junk so we'll borrow one from the WC later on and see what happens. It howls a bit, we'll drain the fluids and see what comes out, I don't think it will be so loud when full of fresh oil. The hood is pretty rusty to far gone tho polish, the rear rims are rusted through. It's all there but it'll need some elbow grease. The rear tires are a matched sey of 14.9x28 Firestones it looks like the rims are a bit to narrow. Aren't the 45 rims wider? I doubt we do anything this weekend, we're going to the motorcycle show in Chicago Saturday. (The other hobby don't you know). Unless we mess with it Sunday afternoon. As far as my WD45, one of the boys ran over an auger derrick hidden in some tall grass. Was in third not going very fast and ran the right rear over a 15" tire. The tractor went over so fast he didn't even have time to push in the clutch. Thank goodnes he's young, he got clear. This is what it looked like after.
