Hi All-

Does anyone have an exploded view or parts diagram of the tilt steering mechanism on a 190xt?  Going to attempt to fix mine, but haven't been underneath the steering column yet to take a look at the mechanism.  Just trying to figure out what I'm getting into.....

Thanks in advance,

Troy

It doesn't tilt, right?
Most likely, the shaft that the steering column pivots on is seized up - mine was.  See the picture below.  Loosen the nut at the bottom, this will relax the clamp that holds it in place.  Try moving the column up and down.  IF it doesn't move, it is seized.  Use lots of oil to get it moving freely. After that, snug the nut up again and try moving the linkage.

Myron, I will try that.  My steering column just slides up and down in the slot without locking.   Does the mechanism allow to lock the steering column in different positions?

Thanks....

Ok, you have the opposite problem that I had.  Try tightening the castle nut.  When pulling out on the knob, you should be able to move the column and should lock when you release it.
