Can somebody please tell me if a WD should have either a Throttle and/or a Govner spring? If so, can somebody please share a picture?
I have a spring on the return choke / carburetor, but honestly can't remember if I should have one on the throttle or govner spring.

It has a governor spring in side. There is a linkage spring under fuel tank , right side and a coil spring on throttled rod at quadrant. MACK

There isn't a spring on the governor lever to the carb. Jus the spring on the carb to hold the choke open. The governor in under the governor cover on the front right on the engine.

OK, We've talked about the mysterious carb link spring here a time or two in the past. Here are a couple of pics taken from two different WD manuals. The description: SPRING, carburetor link (prior to Engine S/N 244001). It is sometimes (often) referred to as the "anti-surge" spring. Believe it or not, it hooks to the draincock, hence the large hook on the one end of the spring. My '51 WD has the spring. A similar spring was also used on B and C tractors. Dick L. says the spring is not necessary on he Bs and Cs if all the governor linkage is adjusted properly. He is probably right because even Allis discontinued it on the WD at some point. ![]() ![]() |

There is a choke return spring also attached to the draincock.
