We are planning to go to the GOTO in Hutchinson, MN. in July. We would like to go a week (or more) early and do some sightseeing, within 200 miles (+/-) of the show. We have never been in that area before and we will be towing our fifth wheel.

Looking for recommendations for things to see and do (not really interested in breweries or wineries) and/or campgrounds in the area. We are hoping to camp at the show for the show weekend, but looking for a decent campground before that.

Haven't been there for a few years but the museum in Hutchinson used to have the AC fuel cell tractor. Really great circus museum in Baraboo, Wisconsin.

Only open certain weekends Elmer's Auto and toy Museum in Fountain City Wisconsin. It sits on a bluff overlooking the Mississippi. Just across the river from Winona Minnesota. Have to check website for schedule. Pedal tractors pedal cars, toys, motorcycles and cars. Elmer was a reference for the Pickers show. State Park just north of town for camping.

Duluth is kinda on your 200 mile edge but it has a lot to see. Wright co fair should also be going on (covid ?) 40 miles to the north.

Wander into Wally World and buy yourself a Minnesota Atlas and Gazetteer , shows you all campgrounds and other points of interest, small campground in Hutch down by the river.

The House on the Rock is an amazing place to visit.  Last time I was there it had expanded to the point where it could take two days to go thru the entire place.  If you look close, at some point you will see "Allis Chalmers".  I had thought it was a Wright design, but found out on out last visit that he did not design it.

The Wisconsin Dells is another nice place to visit.  Take a duck ride up the river.  I haven't been there since the late 70's but it was like another world along the river.

If there are women in your party, a visit to Mall of America in Minneapolis should earn you some good husband points!

If you drink beer you can also pick up some spotted cow while passing thru WI.  Also look for a country dairy store and pick up a few pounds of cheese curds(squeaky cheese)  If fresh you can't find a better snack.  If you have room you can also pick up a variety of great cheese.

Going along with DanWI,,,,,,Elmers and also Dahl Ford in downtown La Crosse here.  He has one of EVERY car he sold and they've been locked away all these years, but some now are on display at the dealership.  It's on 3rd street South.  Then down onto 2nd street , 525 North Second Street, to see the old La Crosse Plow which Allis bought up and kept running till 1969 I think.  They are turning it into appartments but keeping some of the historic things.  One was a huge forge and smokestack they incorporated into the plan.
Depending when, you could take a paddle wheel steamboat ride on the La Crosse Queen up and down the Mississippi.

Thank you all for the ideas ! It will be our first time in that part of the country, so we are looking forward to doing some sightseeing in the Hutchinson area and on the route to and from.

Since we will be trying for our Madrid NY GOTO in 2023 (third time is hopefully a charm !), this has given me an idea of putting something together about things to visit in our area when attending our show.

...and, yes, john(MI), there is a lady that has been travelling with me for 44 years, that will be going along and she was excited to see that Mall of America is close by !

Again, thank you for all the ideas.

If you are coming through South   Central Wisconsin, THE SHOE BOX, in Black Earth, Wisconsin is a great place to buy shoes of all descriptions, especially work Shoes/Boots. Plus, on-site cobbler, i.e. they can add more hooks through the eyes of the boots if you prefer.  R. Musgrave
