 Topic: Supplementing 8070 Fwa

Looking for some suggestion on tractors to considering that is similar drawbar horsepower or more then an 8070 FWA. It will be a used tractor and needs to be Fwa. I Would like to find something that still has an injector pump or at least pre emission.

Uses?
The Whites of the 90s were good units. 6000 series and older, skipping anything that ends in 4. (6144, etc) as those were silver MFs.

Agco Allis 9675 or 9695. White 6175 or 6195.
The whites have an 8.3 mechanical Cummins. Allis have a Detroit 40 or basically a DT 530 Navistar.

I may buy another if it doesn’t have 10000 hours. But there isn’t to many for sale out there. An 8050 would be ok also. I wonder if parts availability on major components will become a problem.

I'm told many of the FWA axle parts for 8000 series are difficult to impossible to buy any more. Consider a Genesis or Buhler tractor. They have a great reputation and the "super steer" front axle for short turns while on 30 inch rows.

I know them as an ECM, but yes, they are computer controlled.

We had a couple of the 9600 series. An early 9675 and a late 9695,sculpterd frame. the 75 dynoed 210 and the 95 @ 225. The DT 530'S made great power right out of the box. We did the brake update on the 75, new reaction plates, brake discs, etc. Up until that point the transaxle was basically the same as the White 2-180, with the exception of a different hardening process for the rear axles. We had transmission controller, ecm, trouble with both, which can be expected as this was the first generation of the Funk Transmission. The 75's was a wiring installation issue, the harness rubbed and would short out, heating up the ecm, thus shutting down the trans. You could let it cool and go again, but ultimately it took a new ecm, 2k over ten years ago. Never could quite figure out the 95's troubles, traded for 9775 which has been flawless for 4k hours. Not bad tractors but nowhere as refined as the 9700 series or other colors. Good Luck, Mike
