I was hoping somebody could help me identify what parts are lurking in some boxes based off some numbers. What we have is a A-C box with a crankshaft in it plus 3 smaller boxes which have not been opened yet. The only # that makes any sense is the U3986 stamped on the crankshaft itself. I believe this should be a crankshaft that fits the "W" series, more specifically the 201 cid engine such as found in the WD. The main box itself has a 6 digit # which I thought would be a kit part # but I can't find any reference to it in my WD/WD45 parts book. Now, bear in mind, my parts book is a copy of a January 1965 A-C parts manual. That 6 digit # is 224932. Also, above that # on the main box is another # which is just "1 52". I was thinking this might be a date(January 1952) which might explain why I don't find the 6 digit # in a 1965 parts manual. The 3 smaller boxes each have a different # which, again, I can't find any reference to in my parts manual. Those #s are 3989, 31?8, and 30?4. Now, the ? in 31?8 at first glance looks like only a - (31-8) but it is kind of low and seeing that the other 2 boxes have 4 digit #s makes me think that what looks like a - is actually just the bottom of a # that wore off. The ? in 30?4 looks like a 2 to me (3024) but is faded enough that I'm not 100% sure. I was hoping at least 1 of you more experienced and knowledgeable gentlemen might have seen these #s before. TIA guys.
