I'm putting a set of new (oiled wood) straw walker blocks in an F3. Does anyone have a recommendation for any additional lubricant that I should put on them before installation? I was thinking either motor oil or some planter graphite, but maybe I should just install them "dry"?
Any suggestions? Thank you! Peter

Do you not have to lube them occasionally after installation, if you're lubing them now?

I think they're intended to run without lubrication, but was just looking for something to put on them from the start. Beef tallow/lard seems like a good idea.

I think they develop a polish once you run them and that should make them maintenance free.
We never oiled ours, but we keep it in the shed. |

make sure when you tighten the bolts, that the blocks are not tight on the crank, you'll break the chain. you may hafta put a few paper bushings in them.

The shaft augers on our old combine used to get to rattling in the blocks. I squirted silicone spray lubricant between the blocks and shafts. Quieted them right down.
