It isn't doing a whole lot of good in here. I had it going over 2 hours and its only up to 60 in here. Usually will run me out of the room by now. It hasn't been lit the past 3 days. Grand son helped me cut part of a load of wood early last week. Glad he did. People on the local face book looking for bags of wood pellets. It seems like everyone is out of them. Hope they found some.

Tom, if it hasn't been lit in 3 days and the house has gotten cold it will take a while to warm it up. But once you get it warm it won't take as much to keep it warm. IMHO wood heat is the best you can get. Hope the firewood you cut is good and dry, green wood won't put out much heat unless it is ash or hickory.

I'd never consider burning green wood unless it's in one of those outdoor burners.  Too much pitch/tar and like Hubert says, no heat or I should say very little.  Yes, it's gonna take some time in this COLD to get the house back up to 70.  We're sitting here at -13 right now.  I don't even want to know what the wind chill is!!!  It's just TOO DARN COLD!!!
16 days till spring!!

I never sat around close to my wood stove when I had it. It was always too hot in that room to stay very long. When I moved the chimney and put an add on in the basement it kept the whole house a nice even temperature.
I miss having a wood burner, but don't miss all the extra work. Now I just fill a bulk bin with corn in the fall and go down to the basement once a day to fill the hopper and dump the clinker.

Wood pellets are a nice convenient wood heat, but you have to plan ahead. They are a "Seasonal Item" that they stop stocking after the first of February. Seems kind of dumb since most people will be burning them into April around here, but that is the store's mentality. I now buy a whole skid towards the end of January when they're on sale so I don't run out.

If'n you would buy me that machine that makes pellets, I'd darn sure make you some. Probably sell them to you at a discount. Might add a secret ingredient to them. You could get a bang out of em. Lol! Darrel

What have you guys figured out as COST in Your area to use pellets compared to Propane furnace ?   Do you use one 50# bag a day ?  To heat what size rooms ?
Like them all, but love the "B"s.

Steve it depends on how cold it is outside. I burn anywhere from a half bag to 2.5 bags a bags a day. At $4.48 a bag @40 pounds it comes out to $2.24 a day at a half bag to $11.20 a day at 2.5 bags. Now if the whole month was below zero my bill would be $336. 10-15 years ago before my basement wood furnace my LP bill was pushing $400 per month and a heck of a lot more when it was colder.

I am sure glad somebody warned me they are hard to get. The community fixed to the one room school were my edumacation started. The women wanted a fancy pellet stove rather than a propane like there was when I went. TSC was out, local place that sold stoves and spas for 30 years closed and disapeared( found a revue online from 4 mo ago they were not showing up as promised, so I have not got to far behind ), next was Home Depot. They had a lot............3 bags when i found them.Said they were bringing another pallet from back, maybe. I only needed one at $5.80. Had a meeting yesterday at the school ran that stove on high for 3 hours and one more time Friday night, and hope its warmer in April.
