252155986808 ebay listing. Is this vintage original or is it some one blowing hot air trying to rip somebody off? Doesn't seem very believable.

gee it looks original, rusty in the right places but at $100 CDN I'd rather have a repo unit and 4 sets of D-14 rockshaft cylinder kits and hoses !

I have one like that. Since it says it is porcelean and not just  "paint" I would assume it is original ..... Allis use to put signs like that on some bigger motors and generator sets.
Like them all, but love the "B"s.

I got one like I off a TVA transformer. The bidder got the job to replace the AC unit with another brand 40 years later model. Lost his hinney - set the new one off with the local crane - had to hire another crane and special trailer to haul off the old AC. They missed the weight as the old AC weighed 4 times the new one - with out oil...they don't make them like they used to...

I have smaller size (4" square) name plates that are porcelean, that came off of smaller transformer.  I made a wall plaque out of old barn wood and mounted them on.

There's a guy on 1 of the FB group sights that got took twice on signs on Ebay. Eventually Ebay got his money back. I've delt in "old stuff" 4 nearly 40 years. 1st rule of thumb,,,,,,,,,,,If u got ANY dout,,,,,,,leave it .

Doesn't say he bought it in Europe, just that he is back from there.  Asking $75 for it in the ad I see.  Not interested anyway.

I have two of those in nicer condition. I'm about 98% sure I picked them up from The Allis Connection show back when they still met in Homestead Amana.

Even if it is porcelean dose not mean it is old. The reproductions are also porcelean (most of them). Here is a picture of a repro. a friend of mine got me off e-pay years ago (it said right in the add that it was made of .040 thin metal with thin porcelean coating) .It is a real thin layer of porcelean. I just hung it in my shop .Did not put it in show room.
Was darker orange color changed just from shop lights shinning on it .

My guess ,REPRODUCTION ,one in above add

I don't know about that sign specifically but I have seen lots of artificially rusted signs of all types showing up on eBay as reproductions. I have seen some at tractors shows that you can hardly tell, if it weren't for the Chinese plastic sleeve they're in.
