Gonna order new sections from sickle sevice, I see they come with the bolts. My question is does the bolt head make the section set too high?? I know too much clearence adds to clogging. I want to put it back together without making a lot of adjustments! thanks keith

It does. You need the hi rise clips to clear. Ran into this on a JD #5 mower when we switched to bolted sections

I will only run bolted sections, just too much trouble to rivet them on even with the sickle repair tool.

The section don't set higher. You have to run higher hold downs for the nut & end of bolt to clear.

word of caution. The bolts are pleanty strong for shear load as they experiance from typical cutting action, however they are easily broken if tigened agressively at installation.

No experience with sickle mowers but would never go back to rivets on the combine sickle. Can change sections on the combine without removeing anything other than bolts. It's quicker too.
