I picked up a sherman splitter from a WC today. It is complete and in good shape, but I dont know if it is a step up or step down. Which position is direct drive? It only has 2 positions. Someone said that the step downs had 3 positions, direct, neutral and low..
Any help? I need a step down... |

I would think you could turn the input shaft and compare it to the output and then shift it and do the same. One way has to be straight thru and the other is either slower or faster.

I have some tooth counts, etc that I got from Barney several years ago. Are the gears narrow or wide...about 3/4 or 1 1/2. I'll get the numbers and get them posted. remind me if I forget, kinda busy with spring sports and kids

I'll measure them later tonight when I get home. I think they are wide.
