So I bought a tractor that had a new set of sleeves and pistons put in it before it began getting water in the oil and eventually spinning a bearing and seizing. It's been setting a few years before I bought it and I haven't pulled the head yet, but what would be the chance of saving the barely broken in sleeves and pistons and swapping them out into another block. I was thinking about honing them a little and getting new orings, maybe piston rings too? What's the chance of getting the right match orings for the brand of sleeves? I just hate to see them go to waste if they could be used.

I have no idea what brand the kit was. I've heard before that agco kits and the cheaper kits have different size orings maybe? Just don't want to get it together and have more coolant in the pan. Would re-ringing it be best or just leave the old ones? I have no idea how many hours other than being told that.

if you are careful you can take them out of the block with piston in sleeves I have done it before. If you need to take the rod off just push piston down far enough to get snap rings out and remove pin. That way you will not disturb the rings. I di it on several DEERES . Gary
