The B & C service manual calls for SAE 20 oil in the transmission. No local store carries it. The only actual SAE 20 I found online with a Google search is out of stock. All other listings are for multigrade oils. SAE 20 and 5W-20 are not the same thing. Any suggestions?

The only place I have found SAE 20 has been at farm stores in generic bottles. Not rated for engine use, but seems to work good in the WD's hydraulics.

Don't even bother use utf. Or uthf. Just go to your local store and buy what ever says tractor hydraulic fluid. Any thing is better than SAE 20 ND. If you put 30 wt in you'll regret it as soon as it gets a little cold.

Back in my day SAE 20 NON DETERGENT oil was the right thing to use in the Hyd for the B-C-CA. However, this is the 21st century and there is much better oil out there Some of the information above is correct also I hear of hydratran oil which is highly recommended too.
Good Luck! Bill Long

Generally, modern day trans /hydraulic fluid is a 10W-30 and if good enough for 600 HP tractors, sure ought to be plenty good enough for a model B-C-CA tractor.

I've been using Walmart 'Universal Tractor Fluid ' for 15+ years, and whether I use or abuse the D-14s they still run fine. SAE30 for the engine, UTF for everything else. Makes life simpler.....

I personally buy whatever the local hardware store has. It's usual a black bucket says universial tractor hydraulic fluid. 303 is one of the spec numbers it claims to meet. Of that's what you get localy the use it. You B only holds 10 quarts so a 2.5 gallon jug will completely fill your C after draining it.

I've been told the air compressor oil at the big box stores is 20 non detergent.
