I have heard wrong or is there such a thing as
a 2 plunger head in some roosa master pumps and if so can you get more fuel delivery with that than a 4 plunger head. |

Largest 4-plunger pumps were .310" in diameter. Largest 2-plunger pumps were .450" diameter and did pump more fuel. A-C never used .450's. IH used them on an old crawler tractor.

Thank you Doc.
So I really need a 450 head then. |

And larger capacity injectors to match.

a 450 pump built up is the way to go, but they can be expensive, because the injectors also need work, and bigger lines. I build a few of these, and it can get expensive, and has to be an off season build.

Don't want to hijack the thread but where can I get new lines built up? #1 on my 11B tractor is rubbed through and I'll repair as a last resort, but would rather replace. Thanks,

scheid diesel or fair valley performance can both make lines.

Thanks, I've tried and left messages twice with Sheid Diesel, without return call. They used to do this work I know but I'm wondering now. I'll look up Fair Valley Performance and give them a call. Thanks,

IH model TD-25 is I think the crawler that used that DB-450 injection pump. It was 817 cubes and was rated at 230 HP @ 1500 RPM, so fuel delivery is high enough to make 230 HP at the flywheel.

The 450 roosa was never used for high pressure injection, it was a low pressure system where the injector was actuated by a rocker arm, which is when the high pressure phase started in the process. They do however work great on pullers.

Ed and I have discussed this before. We ran a 4 roller .310 pump as in a 220. We removed the transfer pump and ran 100+ PSI into the pump from a Barnes fuel pump driven off the front of the hyd pump gear splines. . We removed the delivery valve and modified the roller shoes to allow max travel. Left out a couple of weights. This necessitated the installation of a thrust bolt installed into the front cover in lieu of the spring loaded thrust button. The .450 head can be set to push more fuel in total but the 4 roller will put it in a tad quicker. I take no credit for this - it was the way Noble Harrison and Ed Elgin set them up back in the 70's before the inlines took over. Bigger injector lines and larger tips were necessary to prevent twisting pump shafts BTW.. 4X .310 vs 2 x .450 is close even though the stroke is longer.. Just my 2 cents.
