Rolled up some big round bales today

   Using the 200 and New Holland big round baler today.  I hope it is the last time I bale hay.  In 1956 dad set me on the seat of his new WD 45 hooked to a hayrack.  We were in one of his hayfields.  He pointed to the hand clutch and said you pull back on that to make it go forward.  Then he pointed to the brake pedals and said you push forward on them to stop.  I've been in hayfields every year since, except for the 4 years I spent overseas.  I think its time the younger guys took over.  Grandson might be a good 1.  Gotta get some new twine, that dang ball on the right side would not cut.  Its a ball I had around for a long time.  Ya I put new twine knives on it last year. Twine just flairs out,   And we still have the WD45.

	I hear ya, helped some as Renter baled here, used the 180 and LARGE Counterweight(3 pt Bush hog) to move their bales as no extra help. Open Station Dusty, Hot, could not get enough fluids and JUST MOVING BALES!! They roll 6x5s weigh out close to a ton each, 180/500 loader did not appreciate those.

	That’s really a neat post— I love to hear others still out there with a wd45 that was on the farm from the early days. We still have my fathers first one and is in use almost daily. When I’m at my fathers farm moving RB’s, I have the same thoughts as you. Learned how to drive on the WD 45 in a hayfield moving wagons. Fond memories! I have a few years before I hope it’s my last hay crop though!

	Curious on what New Holland baler you were using? Did you like using the Power Director clutch on the 200 ?

	last time i big round baled some brome pasture...i didn't have a mower, so i used my bush hog, raked it, baled it with a Hesston baler. i sold them bales on a consignment auction. later on the auctioneer told me that the dude that bought them bales cussed him, seems when he cut the twine the bale exploded and covered him in soft fine cut brome hay! lol...would have loved to seen that!

	I learned to drive on a CA picking up AC round bales. When we left the farm my Uncle bought the CA he passed away this year and my son bought the CA from his kids.

	Doug, it is an 851 chain baler dad bought new in 1976. He bought this baler and they gave him a new side rake. 2 or 3 years ago I bought new upper HD chain and 1 new upper bearing and a pair of twine knives for it. Replaced 2 teeth in the pickup. It's an auto tie, old thing works well. Yes I always use the power director on the 200. Gotta replace a tire. It had Uniroyal tires on it, one of them is comming apart at the seam. New Tire has been laying under the bench for 2 years. Outta get busy and do it before I have to buy a tube. Retirement is so dang much fun. It seems like there is No time to take a decent nap.

	Tom, Isn't that the truth! I am up earlier today to get things moving. Earlier than I would get up to go do the work thing. Hope every one gets to try this retirement thing! It may not fit everybody but I like it. I have missed out on naps most of the summer too! Regards, Chris

	i'm usually up all night, go to coffee around 0400, come home about 0530, let the pups out and crashes til bouts noon, watch gunsmoke and crash for another couple of hours, then it's time to (maybe) go do something. eat supper, and crash til 10 PM...repeat!

	Crossed three here TA in July, that said I still awaken every day at 4:00 to 4:30 start my day, and can remember my Grandfather doing same. Old habits become normal life for us!!
