I have seen about everything. I think if I remember they were a galvanized rim from the factory? I have used Rustoleum silver and even the hammered finish and I think it looks ok but I am not a real good judge of these as mine are not really stock wheel colors.
Regards, Chris

Think silver would look good . Mine (D 15) are rust colored . Did just hit the centers with Rust-Oleum Almond . Matches my steering wheel . Looks pretty good to me Thanks

No silver paint is "factory"! They were galvanized when new. A lot of guys are happy with the hammered aluminum look if you paint them. In my experience, no paint will stick well at all to the galvanized finish. Sand blasting the rims should help considerably, but galvanized rims that have rusted from leaking Cla Chloride, can be a LOT of work to get clean. Edited by CTuckerNWIL - 09 Aug 2019 at 8:38am |

Right on the original rims being galvanized. About 15 years ago, I got the Rims on my D17SIV powder coated silver. by a local company for $80. I had them sandblasted prior to the powder coating. I didn't check into what it would've cost to have them galvanized, but I'd guess that it would have been at least that amount; plus, having to take them quite a ways to get that done. I think these turned out great. The guys that mounted the new tires were very careful not to chip the coating. ![]() |

I have painted a few B/C rims with Rustoleum Aluminum with a tad of gloss black mixed in to dull the brightness. By adding the black I am attempting to get the grey metallic look of original Galvanizing. I just brush it on to avoid the mess of spray painting.
How much black to add is just trial and error until you are happy with a look you can live with.
