Been there and done that about 3 years ago. It is a very big job. But well worth the effort in the end. Looks like you have a good start.JP

Looks like the same colour as mine! However, your engine has much less rust in the pistons and sleeves! I noticed you have a 4 blade fan. My 59 has the 5 blade but my 58 has 4.

Dseries4, do you think the 5 blade pulls more air and runs cooler. My '59 has the 4 blade. JP

Just had a closer look. With the 4 blade fan and steel spoke steering wheel, it could be a 1958. What is your serial number?

Good Luck
By the way, I cannot re-size my pics to get them on this site, my file ends up too big for the site to accept, how did you take your pictures and do you have any tips? I have a D 14 in excellent shape that I would like to show off.
Thanks Dennis

Dennis, I use www.photosize.com to resize my pictures. Real easy to use.

Dennis,
I struggled with the direct download also, and have found the easiest way is to load the picture on photobucket first, similar to method on the old site, except you cut-and-paste the IMG code into the post rather than the html code. When you download to photobucket, click "options" and select "large", which will resize your pics to a size that fits nicely on a post here.
Alternately, email them to me (address is listed in my profile), I'd be happy to post them for you. I'm sure folks would enjoy seeing pics of your D14.

The easiest way to resize is to stand back too far when you take the picture then crop the picture.

My dad bought a14 in June of 57. It had a 4 blade fan.It ran hot and took it back to dealer for improvements that had been made. Put on 5 blade fan ,rubber cover over switch ,chain on snap coupler relese ,breather on hyd resivior.

WOW! That is the fastest paint job I have ever seen!
At 2:10 it was still primered and still missing tin.
At 2:13 it looks like brad-new!
You are FAST!!! LOL!

I didn't do it! It was a short, fat, tall, skinny guy that looked like me!

Great job!!! I need to do a little touch up on my D-14 and it would almost look that good. I've still got the side panels with the D-14 logo off of mine because I had to take the starter off and have it repaired.

Mine looks like the before picture only worse but 2 days ago I started hammering out the crushed sheetmetal. My guess is that a barn fell on mine before someone drug it out. The hood, grill and top of the fenders are all crushed in, plus it had a new steering wheel and muffler when I bought it. Thankfully the gas tank is dent free! Got my work cut out for me, I've got the grill assembly pretty straight but don't know if I can save the hood...
All I can hope is that it looks half that good when I'm finished...great job! Beautiful tractor! |
