Replacing the grain tank on a Gleaner F

How much trouble is it to remove the grain tank on a Gleaner?  I went to get some parts off one that a neighbor was going to scrap and I am thinking about getting the whole machine and fixing it up instead.   The machine looks to be decent shape but the shed has been leaking into the grain tank for years, perhaps decades, and the bottom of the grain tank is rusted out and looks too far gone to patch.

Was thinking about getting a good grain tank from a salvage yard and putting it back in the field.

we took some of that white nylon sheeting and screwed it to the bottom of that old IH 403, it worked great! just slid it under the auger and screwed it to the tank about 3 ft up on both sides. after we saw that some of the grain would hang up on the edges, we ground it off at an angle and that cured that. "cheap" and easy!

i'm gonna try and take the grain tank off one of my old "G"s to make a holding (feed) bin.

If the bin bottom is that bad check the drag chain pan water goes down hill and there a pain in the $$$ to change

rather than take the tank off, put sum new tin or than nylon stuff in there and rivet it in! lots faster and lots easier! prolly outlast the rest of the combine too!

I can't imagine you'd be able to find a used grain tank, on a combine of that vintage, that's really any better than what you have. Fix yours.

Yep the false bottom.Had one out on the A2 and this one on the F2.Jerk the walkers out and board the shoe.Makes getting to the raddle shaft/sprockets much easier plus threading the raddle back in.Raise the throat and block up and drop cylinders out of the way.
