Like a lot of older tractors, my WD leaks oil. It's not bad, but still it's not nice on a garage floor. I keep cardboard beneath it to soak up the oil.
But my question is whether or not I can replace a crankshaft oil seal without pulling the engine. I just assumed it meant a total dismantling which, in my case, I'd probably rebuild the engine while I'm at it. But that costs money and time.
So, can I replace either the front or rear crankshaft seal easily?

To replace the front seal, you should pull the timming cover, then center it on the crankshaft when going back together.
To properly replace the rear upper seal you need to remove the flywheel, the lower is in the rear main bearing cap.
It would be easiest to pull the engine for it all.
