Hello
It’s looking like we’re going to have to replace tires on rear of 6080. What do you all prefer, radials or bias-ply. It’s a 2wd with cab and has bias on it now. What’s the pros an cons.
Thanks

Radials are were generally designed to increase traction to get more pulling power. They usually ride better. They will cost MORE. Probably last longer. May not be a good choice when used without duals on steep sidehills. Not sure how the tractor is going to be used, so that makes a difference too.

I put bias plus on mine they were a lot Cheeper but my tractors mostly sit around taking up space in the tractor shed. The tractors at the farm all have radials they work for a living. Radials have better traction better flotation and ride better. My 190 has very worn Michelin radials it's amazing how well they work with almost no tread. The 1086 I mow ditches with has very worn loaded radials. The flotation and traction is better than the yard tractor another 1086 with fairly new looking bias plies

This article compares them. It shows how their designs differ. Hope it helps.

curious am I...
re: May not be a good choice when used without duals on steep sidehills.

Why ? If they have better traction, won't they 'grip the hill' better ??

Some brands are worse than others for the hillside wandering. Duals firm things up a lot.

Only bias tires here.  Lots of hills where I am with some that are steep.  Had an AGCO  that came with radials and tore up a hill hauling hay out.     Changed over to bias when the radials wore out and it pulls on the hill so much better.

they only squirm if you go to the real tall skinny tires. we have 14.9x 42s on most of the 2wd tractors. without duals they squirm but the tires are really to small to be running without duals the bare tractor is over the load limit for that size tire when singled. 18.4x38s are fine singled.

Have you found any 18.4x28?   Or does your 6080 have 30's on it?

I'd expect a 6080 to have 18.4 x 34's on it.

Jay it is when you would be driving parallel to the hill or sideways to the hill. The sidewall would give.

My 190 has Michelin X radials 18.4x34 I have no problems on any side hills. I have 10 psi in them and don't get any side slippage and they flatten and give a nice footprint.

Mike if you are using this as a main tractor, plowing etc I'd consider radials. If its a chore tractor, haying, light field work I'd go with Bias ply. After selling many different brands of tractor tires during the 20+ years I owned the farm tire dealership, I'd have to recommend the better Firestone's. In sold BKT for chore tractor tires those tractors seldom left the farm lot.

Mike. Here are a few tire prices. If I still owned the tire shop Mitas 8 ply bias would cost $652.47 each installed on the tractor at the shop. No fluid pumping included in this price.
Mitas Radial 46085x34 $863.01 each installed, no fluid.
Trelleborg TM 600 46085x34 A8's $1060.34 each no fluid.
My tablet acquired a virus a couple of days ago and I can't yet get on the Firestone/other tire brand wholesalers website. Use these for comparison. If you use tubes, Please get heavy duty tubes for them. The standard duty tubes turned to crap about 15 years ago. Tube prices are not included in the above prices.   After several very bad experiences with Titan and Continental tires I would not recommend them.

When they went from Armstrong to Titan they cheapened up the casings. It became very thin. Corn stubble went right thru them. The first year we sold farm rears I sold a lot of Titan rears. I actually took some of them off and put Firestones on.
