Hi all.... I was hoping someone could educate me on rear rims for a "b" tractor, I'm still new to this b and new to tractors in general. I'm just using it for general yard work.
I have a blown out sidewall and a rusted through rim on one side. Other side is good (got replaced at some point). These look like original rims with 4 lugs. So my question is, how are the lugs attached to the rim? Bolted? Also,I've seen posts about a 4 loop design but I don't know how this works. Does the wheel center bolt up in the same way? Any help is greatly appreciated. |

the 20 inch diameter wheel HUB is splined to the axle shaft... It has 4 holes at the outer diameter to mount a rim.. Original rims use 4 clamps that PUSH OUT against the rim and WEDGE it so it cant fall off... The CLAMPS are bolted to the hub, and two of them have cam bolts that allow the to ROTATE OUTWARD for the wedge..
The 4 loop rims were used on other manufacturers and will fit on the B hubs.. You just use longer 1/2 inch or 5/8 inch bolts to go thru the hub and thru the loop... maybe about 4 inches long........ these are the cheaper and simplier method.

depending on what size tires you plan to use.. you could use 8, 9 or 10 inch wide rims.

Good info... Thanks
So those loops are threaded and my center plate will bolt right on.. Is that right? I couldn't tell from pictures. No problem mixing the two? Lug on left loop on right? It's for a 9.5/ 9-24 tire. |

Loops are pass through for bolts. Bolts require a lock nut and nut. Farmall A/B used the loop rims.
Original AC B/C/ib rims don't have loops. Some folks say they had to file a slight offset to cast rim center rim mount holes (1 or 2) to mount loop rims. Edited by KMAG - 25 Apr 2023 at 6:40pm |

yes, you can have a loop on one side and factory on the other ... 8 inch rim will fit good with 9.5 inch tire.... I have a B that has two LOOP rims on it... very simple to install... as mentioned, just long bolts and a nut on the back.

8 inch rim? Is that common? I would have thought a 9 inch is what I wanted. I haven't tried measuring yet, just going off the tire size.

you could use either.. Normally the rim will be an inch smaller than the tire width.... The B used 9.5 inc 11.2 inch and could have 12.4 inch tires on it..
here is a 9 inch rim that would be fine.. |

I just put two of these 4 loop rims on my C. 5/8" x 4" carriage bolts worked perfectly.
