Whoever did it they did very well! Can't imagine Doc having the time. Tall rubber and high rpm 433. I'll be it moves on down the road!

Top speed of right at 20 MPH with the 15.5 x 38 tires. I started the sheetmetal work in December and am just now getting near the end. I still have to sandblast and go thru the seat suspension and install a new shock absorber yet. Then, wire the lights and I think I'm done. Those decals really set it off !!

DrAllis, It’s a one of a kind and looks fantastic! I love it’s D-19 “Turbocharged Diesel” decal - nice era touch.
It’s new tall rear tires will be riding much smoother than it’s old 28s and will be pulling better too. I’m guessing they’re old 9-bolt 15.5-38s that you maybe converted to 8-bolt? If so, great job.
So you’re opting to loose it’s shade canopy?
Have you dynoed it yet?

The golf cart roof needs to get the framework painted yet, but it will get used for sure painted or not. Those hot sunny days are much nicer when in the shade.  Yes, it has been dyno'd.  85 HP @ 2300 RPM and if I slow it down to 1650 RPM (pto speed) it still has 67 HP, which is up from the 53 HP of the old gas engine. Rear wheels are old 9-bolt style that I welded in 8 bolt centers. Used to be an old set of tractor pulling wheels. Offset is just flush on the outside edge of the rim lip.

Is that a 7080 with duels in the background of that last picture? Diamond tread front tires? Sweet looking tractor also. Again, the 17 looks great. Nice job

The post Doc put up about the build needs to be archived. The 2 separate hyd systems and how he made the "hitches" work together/functional is quite intriguing. Always wanted to put that engine in the 45D skeleton I have.

Wow Tom! You guys really did great on this! This is what the 170 should have been, well maybe not turbocharged lol! I've followed the build on fb too!

This 2200 series engine existed in 1965, when the One-Ninety/One-Ninety XT came out. Sure looks to me like the One-Seventy should have gotten this power plant with a small turbo instead of a Perkins. It would have cost more, but performance and the fact that it was an "in-house" engine would have made it work. Somehow fuel delivery and turbo efficiency would have had to be limited to keep the driveline reliable. With a rated speed of only 1800 RPM, that engine should have had a long life at 64 flywheel HP.

ATTENTION:   I have decided to put this "one-of" tractor up for auction. I've had two years of tractor ride fun and farming with it. This past summer has really been great with new paint and decals, but I've got the next "one-of" project tractor waiting to be worked on, so I think it's time for the D-17 XT turbo diesel to go to someone who can really use it and enjoy a pretty modern tractor that doesn't have any computers on it  !!!    85 PTO HP A-C turbo diesel engine, "live" 12 GPM hydraulic system, the original A-C high-pressure system in the torque tube, a rugged Cat #2 three-point hitch, the original snap-coupler hitch with 190 XT heavy duty lift latches, 55 amp Delco alternator, new brakes, new foot clutch, 16.9 x 28  Good-Year rears with 80%+ tread, etc, etc.  It will run many years for someone with little upkeep and great performance. The starting bid will be $5,000 and bids to come to my cell phone, as I am the Auctioneer. Last bid will be at 6 PM Sunday Sept 12th, 2021.   The new 15.5 x 38 rear tires pictured are available after the tractor is sold, and can be sold separately if someone wants them.  Any bids or questions, please call  319-360-4788.  Thank you for looking !!
