Question for you LP guys

Is there a way to see of the gauge in an LP tank works or not without having to fill the tank up? If I fill it up and it doesn't work then I'd have to get the fuel back out. Any ideas on this?

If the gauge don't work can new ones be bought somewhere? I assume you'd have to replace the whole thing if so.

Only way I know how to test em, is put some fuel in it, your propane supplier should be able to get new gages or parts

If the tank is empty.
Just pull it out and see if the float is good and your needle moves.
Gasket is cheap can be pick up at LP supplier.
The only issue might have is the bolts could break.

Is the glass Bad?
outside portion of the glass and needle is moved by magnet, That is what makes the needle move. so no LP can leak out.


    

   Hey AJ,,I took the gauge out of the tank on the D15II, after makin sure the tank was depressured. The "face" is separate from the gauge itself, and needs no gasket between itself and the gauge housing. The face reads the fuel level from a magnet on the gauge itself. The gauge mechanism is very simple float and small gears affair.
Where you might get into trouble is when taking the 4 bolts out of the gauge to tank connection, as water tends to collect there,,,,PFFFftt,,,,,
 The LPG tank on mine had some serious wear from the back ends of BOTH hoods,,,, 
  The little overfill valve on the tank was frozen but a quick trip to a LPG wholesaler got me a new overfill plus a new face that matched the old one,,,, A local LPG wholesaler had the 4 valves under the tank....
